Art Design for THROUGH TIME

barryyeee

The art design in this game generally follows the minimalist style, with high contrast, simple color schemes, outlines, and geometric objects. What I want to convey to the players are the concepts of past, present, and future, along with some thinking about time and change.

One symbol of this game is the hourglass and all the game components and art design revolve around it. As the result, the design for the back faces of three types of cards is three hourglasses with different filling content. The sand in the hourglass gradually flows from top to bottom, representing the passing of time. Other elements used include sun, moon, star, and orbit.

- Past -

For the past hourglass, all the sand is on the top container that is filled with sailing, sun, and seagulls. These elements represent the exploration of the unknown world by humans in ancient times. The connection between top and bottom is filled with an iceberg that changes into crystals at the bottom, meaning the precipitation of periods. At the bottom-left corner, there is an olive branch for decoration.

- Present -

With regard to the present hourglass, I use city views to decorate it which is representative of the place we live in. The sand is slowly flowing from the top container to the bottom. It is the bridge that connects the past and the future.

- Future -

No one can predict exactly what the future holds for us. At this time, all the sand has flowed into the bottom container, a faraway mysterious world waiting to be discovered. Science is the indispensable tool that supports this discovery. These three compositions: space, planet, and science make up the theme of the future.

It is worth mentioning that the endpoint in the tracker is a hand. Once players have traversed the path, they return to their life and its infinite possibilities. This is exactly what these hands hold up.

In terms of the color schemes, I used a common color scheme in tarot cards: gold & black, black & silver, in order to distinguish different types of cards. Because personal question cards have deeper content, a dark color scheme (gold & black) is applied to them and a light color scheme (black & silver) is applied to trivia question cards.

Other designs, such as the package box, are shown below:
